What to include

It saves a round trip if your first message has:

• The machine — make, model and year.
• The firmware version, from the settings screen.
• Your phone and its Android version.
• What you expected, and what happened instead.

Things worth trying first

The app cannot find the device

Scanning only turns up devices that are advertising. If the device has already bonded to another phone and pairing mode is off, it filters on its accept list and will not talk to a phone it does not know. Put it back into pairing mode from a phone that is bonded, or use the hardware button to clear its bonds and start over. Also check that Bluetooth and the location permission are both granted to the app — Android will not return scan results without them.

It connects, but the switch does nothing

Check the switch mode. In momentary mode the circuit closes only for the configured timeout, which is easy to miss if the timeout is short. Then check the wiring: Keyvo switches a circuit, so if the relay is clicking and nothing happens, the fault is usually on the load side.

Proximity mode triggers at the wrong moment

The zone is a signal-strength threshold, not a distance, and signal strength moves with your body, the machine's bodywork and whatever is around you. Open the proximity settings, watch the live RSSI reading from where you actually want the boundary to be, and set the threshold from that. If it flickers, raise the entry and exit delays — that is exactly what they are for.

A firmware update failed

Stay close to the device and keep the app in the foreground for the whole transfer. If an update fails partway, reconnect and start it again. Tell us if it fails twice in a row, and send the version it reports afterwards.

Starting clean

A factory reset from the settings screen, or the hardware button on the board, clears every bond on the device and puts it back to defaults. You will need to pair again afterwards. It is the right move when a device has changed hands or when you have lost the only phone that was bonded to it.

Safety

Keyvo replaces a key switch. It is not an alarm or a certified immobiliser. Keep a way to cut power to your machine that does not depend on a phone, a battery or a radio, and set proximity thresholds somewhere safe before you rely on them. Fitting Keyvo changes your machine's wiring, which can affect warranty, insurance and road legality where you ride.

If you find a vulnerability in the firmware, the app or this site, email info@alpha21.io with the details and give us a reasonable window to fix it before publishing. We will credit you unless you would rather we did not.
